Damas unveils transparent watch with constellation of diamonds

Damas, the leading international jewellery and watch retailer in the Middle East, now brings to UAE Quinting Telescopium - the first transparent watch with a constellation of diamonds which will soon be available at Damas. Founded in 1993, Quinting was the brainchild of four Swiss engineers, who set out to create unique watches with hands that appear to float in space with no visible means of being turned. In 2000, after seven years of research and development the first transparent Quinting chronograph was launched. The watch became so popular that demand exceeded by 2,000 pieces though it was decided by the management to keep production low, to maintain the high-quality of its watches. Reaching 2010, the stature of the brand has risen further as it is part of an elite circle of 10 top Swiss watch brands which create their own movements. Essentially, each Quinting watch houses a patented sapphire movement that makes it transparent. The Quinting movement – specific to the brand only - is made by superposing several thin-toothed discs of sapphire previously metallised and given an antireflection coating. These features have placed Quinting watches among the most sophisticated and complex on the market today. About the Telescopium Pascal Berclaz, President of Quinting, said: “A dream that combines glamorous star and the spirit of the factory, the Telescopium is a meeting point with fine jewellery, between the Swiss watch-making art and technology to the level of art. This watch, with a single movement inlaid with diamonds forming the outline of the various constellations, will serve as a talisman to its owner and provide it with the mystical power of the night sky.” The brand chose Telescopium timepiece to symbolise the movement of the dial of the watch to the infinity, thus making it disappear in the night sky. The diamonds set between ice sapphires represent the constellation of the Great Bear. This constellation guided the captains of the vessels during the night. Quinting pays homage symbolically. Indeed, manufacturing engineers to guide the society in their research and quest for perfection.
